I hope the punishment is enough to make these boys realize what they did. Their hands hurt another human and that is not accepted in a civilized world. I would like to see their punishment to include spending time with the family that they hurt. I think that may help him see that he hurt another person... another Human Being with feelings and family and people who love them... a purpose. I think a little time spent with the victims might help.

My 2 cents!

I completely agree. That was a horrible attack and cannot be tolerated. While spending time with the victims might be a good punishment for the attackers, I'm not sure if the victims themselves would be too thrilled about it.
